ROOMTOGROWTX.ORG PRIVACY POLICY (EFFECTIVE DATE FEBRUARY 21, 2018)

The Texas Apartment Association Education Foundation (“TAAEF”) (also hereinafter referred to as either, “We”, “Us” or “Our”) provides the Roomtogrowtx.com web site (“Site”) to help Texas residents learn about job opportunities and training in the Texas apartment industry.   We are committed to protecting the privacy of personal information you may provide Us on or through this Site. We believe it is important for you to know how we treat your personal information. We updated this Privacy Policy effective as of the date noted below.  The terms of this Privacy Policy apply to all users of this Site. This Privacy Policy applies solely to users of the Site.  If you have provided or choose to provide your personal information to TAAEF through other means then this Privacy Policy will not apply.

If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, you should immediately cease the use of this Site.

  1. What information does TAAEF collect about me on this Site?

You are able to review the information contained on our Site without providing us with personal information.  If you would like to sign up for our mailing list or submit your resume for review as part of our Room to Grow careers program, you will have to provide us with your personal information.

Mailing Lists:  If you sign up for our mailing lists, we will use your contact information in order to provide you with information related to opportunities, careers and other programming related to the Texas real estate and apartment industry.   We may utilize service providers to provide you with the information you request.

Room to Grow Careers Program:  In order to participate in our Room to Grow Career Program (“Program”) you will need to fully complete your profile and/or submit your current resume.  By agreeing to participate in this program you permit TAAEF as well as members of its Program advisory board and the Texas Apartment Association (“TAA”) to review your personal information for the purposes of determining whether there are particular job opportunities, careers and other programming related to the Texas real estate and apartment industry that are right for you.   Once you register on the Site, TAAEF, and all of its service providers, including Gravity Forms, may collect and/or process personally identifiable information that you voluntarily provide on online forms, which may include: user registration, employment application or resume submission, contact requests, surveys, and other online activities. TAAEF, the Program advisory board, and TAA members may use and disclose information about you for the purposes of determining job opportunities that may be right for you, which may include disclosing your resume and personal information to third party employers and recruitment agencies.

In addition to the personal information identified above, Our web servers, along with our service providers’ web servers, automatically identify computers by their IP addresses. TAAEF and its service providers may use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the Site, track users’ movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. To emphasize, IP addresses are not linked to personal information. Further, Our Site may use technologies such as “cookies” to provide visitors with tailored information upon each visit. Cookies are a common part of many commercial websites that allow small text files to be sent by a website, accepted by a web browser, and then placed on your hard drive as recognition for repeat visits to the Site. Every time you visit Our Site, Our servers, through cookies, pixels and/or GIF files, collect basic technical information such as your domain name, the address of the last URL visited prior to clicking through to the Site, and your browser and operating system. We may also use third party analytical tools to analyze activities on the Site and use of the Site. You do not need to enable cookies to visit Our Site; however, some parts of the Site and some services may be more difficult or impossible to use if cookies are disabled. To emphasize, cookies are not linked to any personal information while on this Site.

  1. What does TAAEF do with the information collected?

TAAEF, its service providers, Program advisory board members and TAA members may use your personal information for any of the following purposes: (1)  to evaluate your resume and provide you with feedback; (2) to identify potential career, job and training opportunities for you; (3) to understand the use of the Site and make improvements; (4) to register visitors for online activities such as: surveys, employment applications, comment forms, or any other online interactive activities; (4) to respond to specific requests from visitors;  (5) to protect the security or integrity of the Site if necessary; (6) to comply with applicable law or legal process.

  1. With whom does TAAEF share the information?

When registering for the Program, You give consent for your personal information to be shared within TAAEF, the Program advisory board members, TAA members and to other individuals that may help to identify job opportunities and training in the Texas apartment, real estate and related industries that you may be qualified for or interested in. In addition, your information will be provided to all service providers, including Gravity Forms, who have a need to know the information for the purposes of the proper and efficient operation of this Site and providing the services that you have requested.  In some instances, this may require that your personal information be transferred to, processed, and stored on central servers in the United States or sent to individuals in the United States.

TAAEF will not sell, rent, loan, transfer, or otherwise disclose any personal information to third parties except as set forth in this policy. TAAEF may share personal information with third parties under the following circumstances:

(i)        in connection with a court order, subpoena, government investigation, or when otherwise legally required;

(ii)       in the event of a corporate sale, merger, acquisition, or similar or contemplated event;

(iii)      working with third party service providers, to support the Site’s technical operation; or

(iv)      in connection with processing a submitted resume.

In the case of processing a submitted resume, TAAEF, Program advisory board members and TAA members may disclose your personal information to third parties as necessary to further process your resume and identify opportunities for you. Therefore, your personal information may be disclosed to third parties for their consideration and response for any positions within their market.

When Your personal information is transferred to service providers, it is done under circumstances by which the individuals and entities understand that the shared information may only be used for the limited purposes for which it is provided to them in helping to identify opportunities for you and to treat the information securely and confidentially.

In addition, circumstances where your information may be disclosed include:

  • When you have consented
  • To comply with applicable laws
  • To third parties as required by law, court order, subpoena or other discovery request
  • To cooperate with government authorities in a criminal investigation or to detect, investigate or prevent crime or injury to persons or property
  • To investigate a complaint or misuse of the system in connection with protecting Our legal rights or the rights of other users of the Site, or its service providers, or to obtain legal advice on behalf of TAAEF or service providers
  1. How do I correct or update my personal information?

You control the accuracy of your personal information. In order to update or remove your personal information, or to withdraw your resume from consideration, you can send an email to taaef@taa.org with the subject line “Remove Resume.” If you are planning to send an updated resume, please resubmit using the Resume Uploader tool.

  1. How does TAAEF protect the security of my personal information?

TAAEF uses and/or requires service providers to use administrative, technical, physical and organizational security measures (such as encryption and access controls) which are designed to protect all personal information. We safeguard information according to established security standards, and periodically assess our methods of protecting information.

  1. How does TAAEF process information from international users?

This Site is not geared to users from outside of the United States.  However, to the extent you access this Site from outside of the United States, you consent to the transfer and processing of any data, including personal data you provide to or through the Site consistent with this Privacy Policy.

  1. How will TAAEF notify me of changes to its Privacy Policy?

TAAEF will post any changes on the Site’s Homepage, so visitors are always aware of any changes to what information We collect, how We use it, and under what circumstances We disclose it.  The Effective Date will be listed together with the Privacy Policy.
