Not every career starts with a clear plan—and that’s exactly what makes Dani Brown’s story so powerful.

After graduating college, she began in customer service for a cellular company. When layoffs shifted her career, she moved into sales and eventually relocated to Arizona, where her path into multifamily truly began.
Interestingly, her interest in the industry started as a renter. After experiencing a great leasing interaction, she realized, “I could do this. I could help people find their home.” That moment sparked something—and even after facing rejection (more than once), she kept going.
In fact, she didn’t land her first leasing role right away. After being turned down for a position she really wanted, she kept applying. Just days later, another opportunity came along—and this time, she got the job. That persistence changed everything.
From there, Dani’s growth was rapid:
- Leasing Consultant
- Assistant Manager
- Community Director
- Regional Administrator
All within a few years.
One of the biggest lessons from her story is that your past experience matters—even if it doesn’t seem directly related. Dani’s background in customer service taught her how to handle difficult conversations, solve problems, and stay calm under pressure—skills she uses every day in multifamily.
She also emphasizes something many job seekers need to hear: you don’t have to get it perfect the first time. You just have to keep going.
Today, Dani is a leader in her organization, helping guide teams through growth and change. But it all started with a simple idea, a few setbacks, and the decision to try again.
